MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE…

INQUIRY allows you to work with people where they are — including at more or less complex levels of HUMANING. Over the 50+ years I’ve been coaching, consulting, and guiding — more recently as a trusted advisor — I’ve encountered people who needed my thought partnership for various reasons. Some were not as smart as I, and some were clearly smarter.

Smartness Matters?

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed the importance of mental processing speed, memory, and inhibition abilities in making up ‘smartness.’ These qualities can adapt over time and circumstances.

Intelligence is not ‘Smartness’

Intelligence is a different ball game. Smartness (IMHO) includes self/other knowledge, awareness, and even acceptance.

Dr. Albert Ellis once said, there are only two things you need to human (my term for be, do, have, become, etc. smiley
1. Accept yourself unconditionally.
2. Accept others unconditionally.
That “may” seem simple… but it only “seems” that way.

Enter INQUIRY…

In revealing my intuitive methods of interacting with clients, and codifying those skills, INQUIRY has proven to be the most leveraging skill for meeting people where they are.

Ping, Probe, Prompt, Permit, Perturb, Pause & Pace

Using ‘THE DISS’ or Dynamic INQUIRY System Skills, you can work with almost anyone to help them reveal their Problem-Solving Approach (PSA) or System (PSS) in concert with their circumstances (CCR).

Problem & Solution = Indicator?

When you recognize someone’s approach or system in solving problems or creating opportunities, you can meet them where they are.

In general, problem-solving models can be codified into five discreet, networked systems: concrete (literal), abstract (figurative), and formal, which includes aspects of both with some objectivity. The two less complex systems are largely subjective due to their inborn nature.

Systematic Capability is Rare?

The fourth system, used more sporadically, includes more systems thinking and is deemed ‘systematic’ when it is duplicable and teachable.

Even More Nebulous…

The fifth system is so rare it’s often seen as odd due to its paradoxical reasoning, where more than one thing can be true. This nebulous reasoning can be frustrating to those with less complex systems.

Even Harder to Find or Experience?

When you meet someone with this rare capability, you let them work their magic (or so it seems) — because even these rare talents have blind spots.

MEET People Where They Are!

While it takes experience to notice these quickly, ‘THE DISS’ offers a better-than-even chance you can be of service!
